Malaysia controls almost 90% of the world’s rubber industry. According to the Malaysian Rubber Council, the country’s exports in the first half of 2021 increased by 150% compared to the same period last year. Rubber is used in latex products such as medical gloves, which have increased dramatically with the spread of the corona epidemic. 

Malaysia Rubber Council announced the export statistics of the country’s rubber products in the first half of 2021. Exports of this product reached 44.43 billion ringgit (equivalent to about 10.5 billion dollars), which shows a growth of 150% compared to the same period last year with exports of 17.77 billion ringgit (equivalent to about 4.23 billion dollars). 

The Council also anticipates that given the continuing global demand and the need for rubber products, especially medical gloves; Exports of rubber products will continue to grow in 2021, reaching a rate of 12 to 15 percent. Exports of downstream rubber products, which account for a total of 89.7% of the total exports of the rubber industry, show a growth of 180.2% in the first six months of this year, which is due to its successful sales performance in products such as latex and especially gloves. . 

According to the published data, gloves had the largest share in the income from the export of rubber products to Malaysia, and with a growth of 210% in sales, it reached a figure of about $ 8.7 billion in the first half of 2021.
