What is the origin of butadiene rubber?

Styrene butadiene rubber

Polybutadiene was one of the first elastomers or tires you had, which is 0% of butadiene production, used to make tires and tires, and 25% to 30% of it is added as an additive to other items than mechanical mechanics.  They have to improve. The annual production of this polymer in 2001 is more than 2.1 million tons, which if drugs are used, it is in the second place among tires, after SBR styrene butadiene rubber or styrene butadiene rubber.  Polybutadiene was first polymerized in 1910 by a Russian scientist named Sergei Vasilyevich Lebedo Sergei Vasilyevich Lebedev. In 1926 he invented a process for the production of butadiene from ethanol, and in 1928 he was able to use sodium as a catalyst to develop the production of polybutadiene.

According to this discovery, the Soviet Union was the first country to succeed in the industrial production of this polymer in the late 1930s. Germany and the United States were among the countries that contributed a lot to the research and development of polybutadiene production. After World War II in the mid-1950s, major advances in catalysts, especially the production of Ziegler Nata catalysts, led to the production of new and improved types of most polymers, including polybutadiene  To obtain the desired properties, polybutadiene rubber is used as an alloy with natural rubber and styrene for the production of SBR and HIPS and acrylonitrile for the production of ABS, in which case it has high abrasion resistance and buoyancy. When added to polybutadiene, it is an anti-oxidant.

Styrene butadiene rubber packing

Methods for preparation : SBR is mainly done by sulfur vulcanization method, advantages : Water resistance, sun resistance, relatively reasonable price.

Disadvantages : Low resistance to aliphatic and aromatic oils, gasoline and hydrocarbon solvents, weak resistance to atmospheric and ozone agents, low resistance to gas penetration, low heat resistance, low resistance to flame and ignition, very difficult to process.

Properties

Polybutadiene rubber is very resistant to abrasion and cracking and is very durable. Abrasion resistance, low calorific value and non-heating under dynamic and constant stresses, non-cracking, low temperature flexibility, good resistance to acids, bases, alcohols and oxygenated solvents
